Give today to bring the healing power of knitting to those in need

Project Knitwell is an organization that uses the simple act of knitting to improve wellbeing and create connections for people facing challenging circumstances.

Three rows of knitting. Fifteen minutes of instruction. One moment of pride.

Participants in our programs range from hospital patients and caregivers to people experiencing homelessness and refugees. All of them find solace and support in the rhythmic repetition of knitting and the camaraderie of shared learning.

We have programs at over 18 sites in the Washington, DC area and each year our volunteers spend around 2000 hours working with 1800 participants.

Project Knitwell brings the comfort and community of knitting to those who need it most.

“Thank you! You changed my life. I’ve been knitting since you taught me.”
