Project Knitwell at 15: A Celebration of Wellness, Comfort, and Community

Fifteen years ago, Carol Caparosa sat in a hospital room, knitting while keeping vigil during her daughter's heart surgery. That simple act of knitting—a welcomed distraction that helped time pass during difficult hours—planted a seed. Today, Project Knitwell has grown from one hospital and one volunteer to serving thousands. We've taught over 8,000 people to knit, distributed thousands of starter kits, and created communities of wellness in hospitals, homeless shelters, schools, and correctional facilities.
